Artist residency at Heretaunga Intermediate, Hastings

pupils screenprinting layers of dots

September 22nd - 28th I am artist in residence at Heretaunga Intermediate - invited up by art teacher Rosalie Thompson. On Friday we worked together with a group of pupils responding to the work of Yayoi Kusama. They each had an old LP record to decorate - as well as being an appropriate shape this was to give them the experience of seeing how compositions worked when they are rotated and of making a double sided art work. Kusama talks of being obliterated by dots so we had a fun photo shoot with dotty stickers! The works will be hung as an installation until the pupils take their own ones home.  I'm back home on Thursday - in time to get ready for Art in the Garden at Glenfalloch in the weekend.
